Low E4 is just the glass brand name. The Low E4 is two coats of Low E. It doesn't pass the tax credit requirements. However, their new Low E 4 "Smartsun" option is 3 coats of Low E and does pass.

I see some manufacturers have posted which windows pass the new requirements and which ones don't. Some manufacturers are retesting windows and doors. Are you guys having problems with manufacturers actually giving you something in writing about this? If a company puts argon in their window but has a breather tube, how long will the argon last?

Not long. The law of partial pressures dictate that the argon will want to go into concentrations that exist in the atmosphere.

Breather tubes with argon are not an option if they are achieving those thermal numbers with them.

Can anyone tell me which Alside windows/options will pass the new tax rebate standards? I tried looking at the nfrc website, but most of that is chinese to me.

Thanks,

Jack

Which Alside window model are you inquiring about? What style of window, double hung, casement etc? Did you get the ClimaTech Plus Glass or just the ClimaTech?

I'm looking primarily at the Sheffield: 7 double hung, 3 sliders, 1 small casement window and a 6100 patio door. Looking at the climatech glass with super spacer.

Thanks,
Jack

Here is Simonton's Tax Credit page for which windows qualify. West Coast 7300/7500 are not on the list so Beware. I think they are still going over the list for the West Coast.

Here is Pella's Tax Credit page for which windows qualify. Looks like alot of windows do not qualify.

Win-Dor Vinyl Windows in Anaheim, CA do not qualify for the tax credit as of now.

SureGuard Vinyl Windows in Los Angeles and Santa Ana do not qualify for the tax credit as of now.

Danjo Vinyl Windows in Huntington Beach, CA do not qualify for the tax credit as of now.

Value Vinyl Windows in CA do not qualify for the tax credit as of now.

I called these manufacturers and asked. Some seem to not care and others will be upgrading their machines soon.

Milgard Just came out with a sheet with which lines meet new requirements. Not online yet.
For Southern California Market Only.

Migard Tuscany
No Grids - All pass with 3D MAX Package (superspacer, 366, argon) except Double Hung.
Milgard's Classic French Sliding Door Does Pass
With Grids alot more complicated. Glass thickness now will determine if a window passes or not.

Milgard Styleline
No Grids - All Pass with 3D MAX Package (superspacer, 366, argon)
With Grids same problem as Tuscany. Glass thickness now will determine if a window passes or not.

It is interesting to me that Pella Arch and Proline do not have a passing spec in DH.
But Andersen WDH and 400 TW do pass with HP LowE4 smart sun.
