Atrium vs Simonton LowE / low SG. already have qoutes

#1 Post by husmousa »

After a half dozen quotes I am down to two. Both are from reputable local installers (as per BBB/local review search) and both have been in business 10+ years.

The qoutes are for the following:
4x 95x59 fixed
1x 22x59 fixed
1x 95x47 fixed
1x 46x23 half circle fixed
2x 48x59 single hung
1x 60x80 slider door

Atrium: $6400
Simonton (7300 I think) : $7000

Both have SHGC coefficients of less than 0.3. Prices are inclusive.
Note that Atrium was a competitive bid specifically in an attempt to beat the Simonton quote.
Who should I go with ?

Oh, and I am in Phoenix Arizona -- hence the emphasis on Solar Gain

More information needed.

What line of Atrium windows are being quoted?

Does the patio door qualify for the tax credit in Arizona? In California is doesn't.
Here is a link to a Arizona Atrium dealer witht the Atrium tax credit info and the Patio Door is not listed as passing.

Not sure of the line but the the sales rep assured me they qualify (this was an on the phone quote, so ballpark at this point). Its possible that the doors didn't qualify.

The Simonton door actually wasn't qualified because I asked for the french door trim (U=0.33) without the trim it qualifies (U=0.3) (and knocked out $100
