Pella Replacement in Vinyl?
Pella Replacement in Vinyl?
Anyone know anything about the Pella Replacement Vinyl windows sold at Lowe's? Are they any good? Can they be painted?
Thanks Guy, I appreciate the feedback. Any other windows you might recommend? This "window shopping" is getting tiresome and frustrating. I have had 4 salesman out to give quotes and man, I am tired of the song and dance....
Needs are that this is a traditional house. Unpaintable vinyl windows just don't match up with the neighborhood and looks of my house. Stark white vinyl will really stand out. (Not good or bad, my wife just wants some color differentiation.)
Thoughts and help???

Re: Pella Replacement in Vinyl?
The Pella replacement windows they sell at Lowes (Thermastar by Pella) are a vinyl window and can not be painted just like any other in the industry (they actually bought out a vinyl company called Viking - I beleive). The ones they sell directly through Pella distributors called Impervia however, are a fiberglass window and were built so they can be painted on the interior. They do not require painting, but can be if the homeowner wants a different color. Only down side is as of now they only have a single hung window, but that's not a real big deal for a lot of people.msvaughan wrote:Anyone know anything about the Pella Replacement Vinyl windows sold at Lowe's? Weender Man hit it on the head. Pella's Impervia window is made of fiberglass. It's the strongest known material used in the window industry today. It can also be painted on either side to your needs. The Single Hung unit works out very well for most customers. From the outside you couldn't tell the difference. So you won't loose any historical look any where. They are a great window and I would sell them every day if I could. You can only get them through select distributors though Lowes doesn't carry them at all. You can go to Pella's website and find a dealer near you.

Depending on where you live , you might want to ask your Lowes specialist about a vinyl window company called Dakota, by Window Mart. They have three color options instead of the traditional two. White Tan and Brown. They are a premium window and offer only the best products, but the price is only about 10 dollars more per window.
