Concord, New Hampshire - window replacement help, please!

We built our home 32 years ago, so it is definitely time for double-hung replacement windows! We have no idea where to go and which windows to buy. We live near Concord,NH (very cold winters). Any advice as to brand of window (we need to replace 17 windows) and excellent contractors in this area would be greatly appreciated! Our budget is limited, but we want to do this right the first time. Thank you, in advance, for your help.

Yes, the home was built in 1978 and the original windows are wood; our home still has the original windows and they are in rough shape.

There are some brands that are very regional so my list may not cover all the good brands in your area.

Sunrise, Simonton, Soft-Lite, and Gorell are some of the widely recognized premium brands. Okna is also good but may not be up that far yet.
