Help identify this window

I understand that photos would help, but I will try with words for now.

1. Double hung vinyl - white.
2. 2 panes of glass.
3. Bottom sash runs on a spiraled rod on left & right sides.
4. Some turn locks on the bottom sash have "WINDOW MAN" on them. Some don't
5. Large 1pc screen, Pinch fits into opening with spring loop retainer.
6. No markings on glass or sashes. No markings between the glass on the strips.
7. Security locks on upper sash to prevent full opening of lower sash are ribbed. No separate spring switch. These locks come out like triangle wedges. "lift & pop out" "push and slide down" style.
8. Bottom sash does tip out by unlatching top corner latches.
9. Paper label on side of lower sash. No Mfg name.

I have a few of these windows with sashes that fog up. I would like to get them fixed.... or find some way to seal them.
These are in an old 1900 farm house in Northwest Ohio

When did you get the home?

A picture will certainly help in these cases.

The home was purchased March 1st of this year... which is why I do not know the origin of the windows that the previous owners had purchased.

I will attempt to get some photos later today or tomorrow

First line is probably build date and serial number

The LE stuff is probably pertaining to the Low-e/argon designation and the glass space/thickness.

Last line might be the size if it is that small.

That leaves 2nd line as the most likely manufacturer ID label.

I just contacted the previous owner. He said it was bought through "Window Man" in the NW Ohio area, but that business is not in business anymore.

They didn't make the window and your warranty is with the window manufacturer.

Post up a picture. We have a bunch of guys that might know it off of the top of their head.

When did he buy the windows? If it is less than 10 years and they are still around, it might just be a warranty part and then you are not out and $$ for the parts.

A lighter and Goof Off in the same picture is a bit scary. Dangerous combination!!!

They look to be single hungs so no option to pull the top sash down.

Tilt the window in and look on the sides of the lower sash for some markings or a sticker.

Worst case scenario, you can take the sash (if the lower is the one fogged) to a local glass shop and have them re-made with new glass if you are trying to avoid replacement.

Eric, Are you sure that isnt a windjammer and not a single hung? Window Man had a window made by Reliant. I read it was made by America's Window Authority. It had a windowjammer / windblocker.
As a midwest guy I'm not familiar with the brands. Maybe some of the east coast guys?

It is a double hung. The top sash can be moved all the way down.

The previous owners signed up at a mall kiosk on NW Ohio for a "chance to win".... they were contacted, then were sold some windows. The previous owners said the customer service sucked and Window Man was out several times to fix the mistakes. A few years later, window man went out of business in this area.

Would getting these repaired at a window shop be cheaper than buying new ones?
I also have a 4'x8' front window that leaks around the glass frames big time.

I dunno, that combo might be the best solution for that window
...Seriously, contacting a local glass shop for replacement IG's would probably be your best bet. It will definitely be cheaper than replacing the window with something of decent quality.

So the fact that Lowe's store windows look identical doesn't help here?

I also just found out that the previous owner has already replaced some of the window man windows with windows from Lowe's. I wouldn't have known it if he didn't tell me.
They are VERY identical except for some slight variation on the security locks on the upper sash and it isn't labeled with "Window Man" on the turn locks. But basically EXACT.

You could always take your info into Lowes to find out, but I doubt that it would lead anywhere. Most entry level vinyl windows look VERY similar, especially to someone that does not look at them every day.
