Help! Window replacement question

#1 Post by Mediabug »

Ive been shopping replacement windows and have several quotes. All thoughts would be great. I've had sunrise, softlite, simonton and several alside versions. I think I've narrowed it down to sunrise restoration. The quote includes wrap, full screens, and grids installed it is a touch under 600 a window. I have 32 to do so it's def a major purchase. Thoughts on quality of window, is there a better window for same range of money, pros and cons, etc.

i am not sure where you are located but thats an excellent price for a very good window.
windows that compare to Restirations would be HiMark / Okna 800 and soft lite Elements..

I agree - great window and extremely good pricing. If you like the product and feel comfortable with the contractor you've done very well.

WonW: what do you see as the pros and cons of the window. I'm a rookie and am basing much on what I see online.

Sunrise Restorations had good thermal performance, nice clean lines, good air infiltration performance, pretty exterior, good company behind it, and a generally solid all around product.

At which point should I be considering infinity by Marvin.

The Sunrise Restorations outperforms the Marvin Infinity in almost every way. The only reason you should consider fiberglass is if you are wanting the ability to paint the window down the road, need stainable wood interiors, or just prefer the appearance.

Why would you think that you need to transition to the Infinity?

+1 to the above posts. The Infinity is not an upgrade in any way other than price and perhaps appearance. That said, there are a couple different options that you can get on a fiberglass or composite product, so as randy mentioned, that may be your reasoning. The Marvin is a well made product, but Inline or Starmark would be better performers with similar options if they are available to you.

I don't think a Sunrise, HiMark, or Soft-Lite would be a downgrade in any capacity.

Where is the home located and can you post up some pictures of the interior/exterior.

Good looking vinyl is a nice compliment to 95% of the homes out there.
