Interior Trim?

#1 Post by Michigan »

Can you do a Full tear out/full frame replacement and not replace/disturb the interior trim?

Thanks

Andy

You would have to remove the interior stops at a minimum and then cut the casing nails from the window frame. This could damage walls and be a real pain. Why not do inserts?

Yes.
We do it on occasion. It is much harder to do with DH that have stools.
A Fein or similar multi cut tool is needed. With the proper technique there will be no damage to the trim or interior walls.
One of the more important and difficult things is to reverse engineer the measurements so that the reveals are correct.

+1 to both Todd and anthony.

Not recommended and especially if you mis-measure one window. All the savings are gone right there.
