Alside (or Allside)

#1 Post by mike1234 » Tue Oct 09, 2012 9:26 am

Regarding Alside (or Allside, which is listed on this site as a Top Rated Window), there are many negative comments from the pros, but they seem somewhat dated. Does this company still not produce a quality product? I'm looking for double-hung windows.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts/comments.

Its Alside.

They produce several different lines so you will need to narrow it down to what you are looking at.

There are a ton of threads and feedback on their windows in these forums and other internet resources.

Be careful of any "Top Rated" tags as they are often bought and paid for in many cases.

+1. Regardless of whether or not the comments positive or negative, they would still be accurate if they are a few years old or a few days old. The "top rated" designations should be taken with a grain of salt, as should comments that simply characterize a product as "good" or "bad" without giving facts or at least educated opinion to support them.
Independently tested thermal and structural performance ratings are a great, non-biased way to compare products and will answer many of your questions. Compare U-values, SHGC, Air infiltration, and Design pressure ratings.

Not in my top ten. But that is a subjective opinion with 35 years experience.
