Hi All,
After 20 yrs in the same home (purchd new), we're replacing our windows and this is new to us (upstate NY). Looking to have first 5 windows below replaced-nothing special. Home Depot quoted Simonton 6100 - $2314; Lowes Pella 20 series - $2067. Then I found this site which prompted me to looked at Sunrise Restorations. Most interested in your opinions on Sunrise below and if it is a fair deal and better than HD or Lowes:
Sunrise Restorations - All double hung, 1/2 screens in all but bathroom which is full screen. Grids on top sashes only for first 5 windows mentioned below:
5 windows (2) 26" x 53" (2) 34" x 65" (1) 30" x 36"
Quote for 5 windows $3174..
Since they had a deal, but 7 get 1 free, we got a quote for that as well:
8 windows same as above Plus: (2) 26" x 52" (1) 34" x 36" was told the lowest px window was free, so that would be the above bathroom window in the first quote..which were told was a savings of $347.
Quote for 8 windows: $4,649
As we left, said they would throw in 4 free shutters (or bottom grids) - we would opt for shutters.
Which quote do you like and do you find Sunrise quote high at all?

I would have HD price out the 6500 series and Lowes price out the Ply-Gem Premium series instead. What are the details of the install and and options for the windows?

I believe it's a basic install - purchd Colonial 19 yrs ago came w Anderson Crestline windows...maybe two of the windows have some rotted wood but other than that, nothing out of the ordinary. Wife wants top girds only for front 5 window..they are giving half screens for all but bath which is a full screen - nothing extra outside of the grids. We just wanted to be sure price was reasonable or if there was room to negotiate since this is new to us. From this board, seemed the Restorations was a favorable choice amongst many of the experts and figured it worth spending a little more on a better quality window...Thanks.
Keep in mind that the free window promotion is for a limited time. At least three of my window mfg have had or annouced price increases in the past 30 days.
