Casement Windows That Will Handle 1 & 3/8 inch Glass?

#1 Post by Ohio »

Any input on a very high quality casement window that can handle/offer a Cardinal 1 and 3/8 inch glass package wherein the total glass area is approximately 13.5 sq ft. (5.5ft by 2.5 feet)?

Window material would preferably be reinforced vinyl but we are open to other materials like fiberglass.

Thanks

Most of the casements are over engineered as a default.

What area of the country are you located in? Window offerings can be a bit regional but any of the well recommended brands that you will hear about on here are going to be able to handle that type of size.

I think Soft-Lite is all Cardinal glass too now, but the first two that you listed are great windows as well.

I would probably go with the Intus is money were not a consideration and Sunrise if I were going for the looks.

I don't think Soft-Lite has a frame set up for 1 3/8. With limited choices on 1 3/8 frames I would not limit myself to Cardinal.

Good call. The handful of top glass manufacturers are really a horse-a piece in my experience, and have very similar offerings.

Thanks for the feedback.

If you are going real hardcore on passive solar, Cardinal is at the cutting edge whereas most of the other guys are developing it but seem to be a step or two behind.

I am sure that Intus has something that will take that depth IGU.
