Replacement or new construction

#1 Post by olivernmari »

Sun Room with 12 windows(approx 30 x 65)

The windows are currently storms only,Porch has a basic frame of 2x4's.

Problem: Each window opening is different, + or - 1/4 to 1/2 inch, openings not square.

Question:

Would you purchase different size windows

or

Would you move the 2x4's and install windows that were all the same size?

Are you going to be trimming out the interiors?

If so, a 1/4" split between two sides is pretty simple to bury behind the trim and to shim out properly.

It would easier to order all the same unit (as they were probably intended to be) and shim and trim as necessary.

+1. If they are all relatively close, take the smallest size and order them the same. Trim inside and out will cover the discrepancies.
