Vinyl Window Lead Times

#1 Post by fenestra »

What are the lead times for custom made vinyl windows? Is there a better time to order?

Depends on the Mfg and what exactly is ordered.
Standard is anywhere between 2 to 5 weeks.

+1... And that can easily go up to 6 or 8 with some options that a manufacturer outsources.
On the other side of the coin, I've gotten windows in 10 days before. It really depends on multiple variables.

What would the mfg be outsourcing??

Is 9+ weeks on painted Okna's de rigueur? Or is something awry on planet Pennsylvania?

If it is a custom color that process can take 9 weeks with shipping.
You have to provide them with color sample, they sent it to paint mfg in Canada, they get it back show it to dealer, if OKed now should take 3 weeks.

9 weeks might me a more normal lead time for the total project timeline if you are figuring on the lead time for getting the measurements, placing the order, confirming the order, producing the product, receiving, setting install and installing.

+1 The painted orders can easily go 9 weeks.
The outsourced items you were asking about are things like tempered glass and the epoxy paint product. Very few window plants have their own tempering ovens.

The anticipation has come to an end. The windows have arrived and installation has begun. So far so good. Updates to follow. :D

Took just over 9 weeks. The exterior color is Terra Tone. Very nice looking windows.
