Window Quote Help - Orlando, FL

#1 Post by OCLions »

Hi All,

Looking at some different quotes that I have received.

My specs are as follows, all windows have colonial flat grids

1- 48x60 Double or Single Hung
1- 24x60 Double or Single Hung
1- 47x24 Slider - Tempered and obscured for a 2nd floor bathroom
1 - Fixed 72x36

I have received a $2300 bid from Window World for their 4000 series (Alside Mezzo looks like)

FAS windows quotes $3500 for 2 Distinctions (Laminated Simonton Impression 9800) for double hung and Foundations (Simonton 5050) for the other two

One local company gave me a rough estimate of $3200 over the phone for 2 PGT Hurricane 5500 single hung and 5400 series for the slider and fixed.

The fixed window currently leaks from the bottom of the frame up when their is a hard sideways directional rain, and I am looking for sound suppression in the double hung/single hung windows. I currently have single pane aluminum windows so I know any vinyl double pane should be an upgrade.

Are the Mezzo that bad for $1000 less?

Of those units, I like the PGT. Are they quoting you laminated glass?

Yes, the rough quote over the phone included laminated on the 5500 windows.

I agree on the PGT being the best of the choices presented, and yes, the Mezzo that bad, even for half the price of the others.

If you are open to other options, I believe that Okna and Softlite (maybe Sunrise?) have some availability in NC as well. I'd definitely check into that if you have not already moved forward.
