 installing air conditioners

Author: Janet (---.proxy.aol.com)
Date:

I recently replaced all windows in my home (30) with replacement windows. Now I wish to return the air conditioners to them. However when I tried to install one, the side wings of the air conditioner, that expand and are supposed to fit into the groove in which the windows slide, do not fit. The new windows have a different configuration than the old windows and the wings of the air conditioner do not fit into the grooves. The grooves on the replacement frame are set back and the wings only fit up to the frame. The only thing holding the air conditioner is the window itself, sitting on top of the air conditioner. This leaves the air conditioner in a very precarious position and easy to push in. What if anything do you recommend to install an air conditioner using the wings?
