 Replacing windows

I need to replace some windows in my 1975 house in dallas, tx. I want to replace two sets of patio sliding glass doors and four patio windows and would prefer aluminum clad windows.

For the rest of the house I would like to do vinyl windows. Can you give me some quality manafacturer names for both products. I see a lot of names out there but I want them to have a presence here in the south in case there are problems.

Bill, I would recommend using one style of window or the other. If you go clad on one then do the same with the rest. When you mix the two they can look real awkward. The outside is easier to cover up but the inside can be horrible. If you go with a clad unit. I'd recommend Marvin and Pella. Some people don't like the Pella interior screen but they have a nice retractable screen that works well. I think the Pella sliding patio door is one of the nicest we work with. They always seem to operate very well. Marvin has been around for a long time. They have gone through a lot of issues in the past. I think they turn out a great product today. They occasionally have some issues but who doesn't!

Vinyl windows have everything you need except a real wood interior. The Schuco window is a great choice if you can get it. Gilkey, Gorrel, Great Lakes, Certainteeds - Bryn Mawr 2, Simonton and Enerpro offer good products. Now hopefully you can find one of these in your area. Good Luck!!!
