I have a home that has all casement windows. My understanding is that casement windows tend to have lower air infiltration than double hung.
Is the energy efficiency significant enough to justify the added cost of replacing my existing wood casements with casements vs. going to a lower cost double hung style. I'm asking this in the context of considering Gorell, Simonton, etc.
I'm trying to stay below $600 window. Quotes I have for dual glaze Argon LoE casements with standard spacers are upper $400 to low $500 per window, installed.
If my budget is such that I can't afford triple glaze or super spacer in a casement window, but could do super spacer in a double hung, would I be better off in efficiency and overall better window with a double glaze standard spacer casement, or a double glaze super spacer double hung?
Thanks,
-Doug
