Your statement is directed at Schuco products... which is unfair. Please address it where it applies.... to a mere few of the dealers that sell the product through very unpopular and unethical means. I personally know a group of dealers that are promoting the Schuco products very near and sometimes below the other high performance competitor's pricing. More window for the same or less. Granted, your point has a small note of validity regarding a very few areas and dealers... but don't make such a general/blanket statement. It's simply untrue.
Schuco products are not cheap... but they prove to be a great investment with resale values topping 80% upon installation. Add to this the beauty, energy savings and longevity and very few home improvements even come close.
Before blaming a manufacturer that has provided dealer pricing that makes it affordable for most homeowners to own and benefit from such a product, do some more research on the dealers. Schuco doesn't set the sale price, the dealers do. Those taking advantage of the product will continue to do so as long as uneducated consumers allow it. Why wouldn't they? Just because they can... doesn't mean they should. The high-pressure sales companies have 20-30% recision rates within the 3 day period allowed by law in most states. The companies I work with have less than 1%. Through informational sources, such as this site, the tides will turn.
