Re: Help with Window Replacement- NE Ohio

Scrap the Essentials quote.

Outside of that, the Okna, Polaris, and regular Sunrise option are all solid choices. How did the installers stack up?

Snap those exterior pics and we will see what you see. Tough to tell anything from those picture of the interior walls so far.

Re: Need a good reliable evaluation of my windows

1. Lets get some pictures of the inside and the outside.
2. Where is the home located?
3. When are the "leaks" showing up?
4. How is the home heated and cooled?

Re: Simonton Stornbreaker versus PGT Winguard

I am not familiar with the WinTec product, but you have two of the good ones there between the two you have already looked at.

Have you looked at sample installs of the two contractors?

Re: Need help in double/triple pane search in Tampa

On the impact vs. not, check with code enforcement in your area. Most likely not required, but something to consider if you don't have hurricane shutters. Double vs. Triple...in you climate, you don't need triple. You are going to want a very low SHGC double pane that is good and air tight with a hi...

Re: Patio Door

+1.

If you were happy with the previous windows and installer, why look for another product or professional?

Re: Insulated Glass Units - Dallas

If you are okay with thermally broken aluminum, I think that Randy thinks that the Don Young product is pretty good.

I will let him weigh in though as he is much more familiar with it than I.

Re: Soft-Lite double-hung equivalent to Okna 800

Yeah. Kind of a tweener climate. We have had some really cold snaps of late by us where some folks are opting for the most efficient glass. That said, you definitely want a lower air infiltration, but any of the Okna's will mostly give you that and will be worlds better than the vast, vast, vast maj...

Re: Soft-Lite double-hung equivalent to Okna 800

In my opinion the spread in the product quality and ratings is not quite linear in this case, but again, the pro isnt terrible, just a step down from the others. The pricing gives additional cause for concern though. At a little over $500 per window installed, even a company like Zen, which could b...

Re: Soft-Lite double-hung equivalent to Okna 800

The Pro is pretty good at what it does , and I would have no problem with that window in my house. 5k is 5k no matter how. Many days you chop it into and the difference in performance numbers is so small it is irrelevant IMO. For $5200 I bought 2 jet skis on trailer and a nice street bike. I love t...

Re: Soft-Lite double-hung equivalent to Okna 800

Tough sell if I am just talking numbers and efficiency to recoup $5K in 3 years. Won't happen. That said, the 800 does have a different and "richer" look to it with the metal. Is there some resale benefit there...maybe. $5K, probably not. It is the flagship window for a reason, but I haven't heard y...
