Re: Large home - 36 windows plus sliding glass door

Why does a private label bother you? Pretty normal process to carve out territories and exclusivity on a given set of options.

Re: Windows in Wisconsin

I just read the subject line while scrolling through and completely missed the Wisconsin part.

Only one shop to call if that is the case. He posts on here a bit from time to time, but look them up.

HomeSealed and ask for Brandon. Won't find a better shop in Wisconsin.

Re: Windows in Wisconsin

Pretty broad spectrum of materials.

Performance wise, the Okna is king of that list. If you are okay with a vinyl or composite product, no reasonable reason to NOT use that product out of those on the list.

Re: Atlanta area window replacement

Why are you settled on those two brands?

One of them is better than the other. Have you checked with friends or neighbors?

Re: Whole house replacement

+1.

If its too wide for foam, somebody fumbled the measurements. Quad Max is just fine.

Re: Whole house replacement

Foam only. Fiberglass is worthless.
There is no butyl tape requirement on a retrofit install.
Capping is standard in most cases.

What is coming out? Wood window given the reference to a "stop"?

Re: Whole house replacement

I was not aware of some of the stuff that has been mentioned.

I would only add that if it feels too good to be true...it usually is.

Re: Whole house replacement

That's what the chart showed me as well.

At that price, and given your climate, you might want to just ask about a Triple pane option.

Re: Whole house replacement

I want to pick apart the Richlin because the pricing is way out of phase with the others, but the data on this page doesn't look bad.

I would scrap all the other options except the Polaris and the Provia.

Re: Whole house replacement

Where is the home located and what were the different products that you were getting quoted at those pricing tiers. I am not sure why companies don't offer more than a 10 year labor warranty. We have never had to go back and service an install when it is done properly from the outset. BTW...if your ...

Re: During & After Installation Advice

Yep.

As was mentioned, stickers will have the data on them.

Companies that install products such as the ones that you have chosen, tend to be equally as diligent on their installation protocols.

Re: Provia Endure vs. Fortis vs. Vinylmax Edison

I totally get that getting quotes and the standard dog and pony shows can get tiring. Trust me. Couple that with the fact that people are generally uncomfortable with telling folks "no" and its a disastrous combination of tiring...and uncomfortable. Feel free to just email me a count of yo...

Re: Request Advice

The double vs. triple...you will need to decide. You will get less light via the extra piece of glass and surface of Low-e. That is true, but to what extent it is noticeable to you is all personal. Most times, folks with aluminum storm windows, feel like the openings are brighter with newer double p...
