Re: Need a good reliable evaluation of my windows

I don't have any pics of the roof. Had a roofer up there yesterday and said there's definitely some problems with things that weren't done properly. (I knew the outfit that did the roof 6 yrs ago was a bad choice, that's why I never call them even though the roof has a 15 year warranty.) After he lo...

Re: Need a good reliable evaluation of my windows

Insulation has been ruled out. The walls were down the first time this happened and there was nothing to tell. It is narrowed down to roof, pointing, and windows, or a combination thereof. As I said I would like at the very least to rule the windows out. It is always starts directly under the window...

Re: Need a good reliable evaluation of my windows

I don't have any pictures of the outside of the house other than this old one.

Oh jeez I don't even have that. The file is too large. I will try to take some tomorrow if it isn't raining.

Re: Need a good reliable evaluation of my windows

Ok, so after much trial and tribulation I think I have some pictures here. It says you can add 3 at a time, but when I add a third one I don't get a "Place Inline" button, only a "Delete File" button so I'm doing whatever it will let me do. These show what I see in the master bat...

Re: Need a good reliable evaluation of my windows

I am in NE Philly. The house has central air and heat. The moisture shows up primarily after a heavy rain and grows and spreads with subsequent rain. The front of the house is stone, plaster walls with blown-in cellulose insulation, no vapor barrier. I have the problem there. The side and back of th...

Need a good reliable evaluation of my windows

Greetings Pros! Long time! I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I couldn't find one for window sob stories. I don't need window advice this time, but I have a problem that has me very distraught that may or may not be partially related to my windows. Six years ago I had a problem with signs ...

I HEART MY NEW SCHUCOS BUT......

I know...I know! You are all sick of answering condensation questions ad nauseum! I completely understand. I tried to avoid asking you. Really I did. But google and ask.com searches only turned up info on condensation on the inside . And in searching this board the only answer I could find for conde...

I am not one of the pros and don't want to advise you on which windows to purchase. I don't know much about Alside but have heard many good things on the discussion boards about the Simontons and the Schucos. It seems like you can't go wrong with either of those. The Schucos were my personal choice ...

Been there.....done that. The best way to educate yourself about windows is right here on this message board. Read as many threads as you can, even the older ones, and even if you think from the subject line that it doesn't apply to you. You will be surprised how much you can learn. Then go to the v...

Thanks tgtrim. I did get that report. But check out the link posted by slider71 on page one of this post.......pretty scary. But seeing as I don't have many choices for Schuco I have them coming out Wed. morning, but plan to be very cautious with them. I also called United....they can't come out unt...

Window4U I just remembered something and took me forever to go back and find it, but I found it. It was on the other discussion board. Do you recall this comment by Fenex in reply to a thread about Gorell Intercept vs. Schuco TPS? "If I were you, and considering your options, you might want to ...

GORELL'S NEW "HIGHLY UNIQUE" SPACER

When I last checked Gorell's website about 2 weeks ago their top of the line IGU was the Thermal Master III with intercept spacer and a whole unit U-Factor of .17. I was just doing some last minute research before making an appointment and I see they have a new package called the Ultra Master III wi...

Thanks for the feedback everyone. It has been very helpful. It looks like United Window and Advanced Window Concepts are the only choices for Schuco in this area so I am going to check them both out. If for no other reason than to have a comparison. United has a satisfactory rating on BBB but BBB ha...
