Sounds like side load balance
clip is put in open at bottom then popped in at top.
could use a small screw to do the same
remove it after install so it doesnt break balance later
we use stry-buc or swisco for parts

Just epoxied andersen frenchwoods back together clamped overnight four sets all delaminating and out of warranty by two years

Sounds more like a slider window. The lockset keeper is adjustable. It could be misaligned and you are forcing the sashes apart. It should lock easily. Check end gaps as sash enters frame reveal gap should be perfectly even top to bottom. If not then frame is not level and plumb. The sash rollers ar...
