Re: Okna 500 dx estimate

Not stellar workmanship.
The last pictures are a lot scary as to water management. But I am not on site to confirm what scares me.
You need theNerd or DE Mike. Mike is an amazing craftsman.

Re: Okna 500 dx estimate

Install warranty: one year is the minimum. two years is best. beyond two years you are possibly paying a premium for the extended warranty that is not worth it.
IMHO.

Your price expectation is wrong.
Get actual bids then eval the situation.

Re: NE Florida - Assistance Needed

Soft Lite was the first high performance window that I migrated to. Their lack of QC and service drove me from the relationship. Had the best sales rep ever. I moved on to Okna, Sunrise and Vytex. Currently we are still active dealers with Okna and Vytex. We are super fussy about product and the rel...

Re: NE Florida - Assistance Needed

Me too, love tacos. I looked at the CWS web site. Warranty looks okay. The website does not have depth to it, like "who we are", "history". Also glaringly missing is any structural test reports and AL test results. It has never failed that this is a bad sign. They night be a good...

Re: HomeDepot vs. local in Chicago area

I think you know what you are going to read if you have spent any time reading comments here.
Simonton is mid to poor. Orange install is a crap shoot.
A good question is are you rich enough you can afford to do it twice?

Yes the price is high due to LOW volume.

Re: Alside Mezzo Technical Response

If you are going to flip the house go ahead. Otherwise not good in the long haul. Though a few years ago I did two houses with them for a friends brother. He got sold on them by another dealer and the price. We won the contract but were stuck with installing the Mezzo. The guy complained about the s...

Re: Okna 500 vs 600

The looks and extra performance of the 800DX are why so many of our customers buy it.
Also my lead mechanics like installing the 800 the best because it is a heavier better built window.

Re: Wincore 5400 Series Contractor Quote ($24,975)

With out the total scope and takeoff for the project it is very difficult to comment on pricing that would be accurate. For instance are your existing units wood with traditional trim details? Are you doing insert or full frame? Insert is price M, full frame is M + $325. ( primed only standard casin...

Re: Window Replacement

One of the pros, Randy, is the guy for all things TX.
He is in Houston and busy as a one arm paper hanger.
Hopefully he will check in and advise. He likes some NT or DY product.

Re: Polaris? Vinylmax? NE Ohio Quote Questions

Many of us were young once, I am beginning to feel "the old as dirt" moniker is starting to fit. I believe HomeSealed is correct that a reasonably profit has to be, if a company is to survive. I long while ago I asked Furman what I should do to help my business. He said raise your price. O...

Re: Polaris? Vinylmax? NE Ohio Quote Questions

Glass packages do not impact AL.

I found it on their website, hidden, I had to drill down to find. Which typically means it is bad.

Ask the sales rep uyou are dealing with to share the structural test report the the units you are considering.

Re: Polaris? Vinylmax? NE Ohio Quote Questions

You always want to see what the AL test results are.
I only looked up the Vinylmax, I would not suggest or use a unit that is .12 AL. You will have drafts.
.05 or less for AL.
