Replacing finned with "finless"

Is it ok to do this? What needs to be done when replacing with a finless? I know how to get them out. Some siding will be removed. Wouldn't it make it much easier in the future to replace the window? Re: Directions to installing Simonton 5500 windows?

You can do it . I did the same thing wth the same windows. Just take your time. Most important things: plumb , level, square and tight fit (but not too tight) measurement is important.

How to measure when i can see studs

I am replacing some vinyl windows with new vinyl windows. I have all the molding etc. off. I can see all the studs. If I measure at 3 points for the width and height, how much do I need to take off the measurement? Thanks
