Re: Replacing New Construction Windows
If the existing windows like yours have the factory built-in j-receiver into the frame of the vinyl window, you wouldn't find a drip cap as there would be no way for the top siding panel to be coped out and tuck into the j-receiver. The drip cap would prevent that in that application. I'd approach t...

Re: Replacing wood windows in a manufactured/modular built home
They look pretty easy to retrofit with insert/replacements. Looks like a 2" factory jamb extension for a 6 9/16" wall. I wouldn't touch that interior stop, but rather pull the exterior storm, cut the exterior stop off which may be an aluminum "Pella" type. Tilt sashes in and pull...

Re: Large home - 36 windows plus sliding glass door
I've been with Sunrise since 2004 and have never heard of them manufacturing a composite window other than the cellular PVC platform that part of the short lived acquisition of Paragon Doors. That lasted for only a few years and Sunrise decided to kill off owning an entry door company. Their sash re...

Re: Okna Insultec vs Provia aspect
Another vote for WOW if they service your area. Top notch. I install both of those series and the Insultech 500 is way better. The weatherstripping and meeting/check rain (middle point between upper and lower sash) in a double hung is better thought out and engineered on the OKNA window. The ProVia ...

Re: Black/Black vinyl windows
Wayne, very little. I like them, but I can't justify the price verses the lack of performance over OKNA. They are like 2-3 weeks on very basic white or tan DH kind of stuff according to a phone call from them that I received last week. I had issues on the last multiple sliding patio door order that ...

Re: Black/Black vinyl windows
Marvin can do on the Elevate and Essentials lines. In vinyl, Soft-Lite and Sunrise are two of the more premium brands with that option. I like the Sunrise the best as they allow one to option a woodgrain black laminate to a base tan or white extrusion before they perform the exterior black painting ...

Re: Vytex Fortis, Provia Endure or Simonton Reflections?
The very best version of the various "template chassis" by deceuninck unfortunately died out with the fall of a terrible window manufacturer "Thermal Industries." They didn't make it 2-months into the Covid lockdown before shutting down. They had a version similar to ProVia's wit...

Re: Vytex Fortis, Provia Endure or Simonton Reflections?
Thanks Ricknez. I was mistaken for the similarities of the Fortis then to the Grand View. I like the ProVia more than Grand View for sure, but I'm not qualified to comment on the Fortis. My apologies.

Re: Vytex Fortis, Provia Endure or Simonton Reflections?
I'm not 100% sure of the install aspect of the Fortis as I signed up with Vytex many years ago but never actually needed to place an order with them for no real reason. Isn't t that model real similar to the most common model that Window Nation installs? I've been in homes recently looking at some o...

Re: Vytex Fortis, Provia Endure or Simonton Reflections?
Todd, are you still in the field installing? No one wearing a toolbelt has been harder on ProVia then me regarding QC and some of the engineering aspects of their products as me. With that being said, I know the other products mentioned and as finished project regarding energy performance. The curre...

Re: Vytex Fortis, Provia Endure or Simonton Reflections?
ProVia by a landslide. I wouldn't shy away from the Aspect for the Endure either. We do both series and Aspect has slimmer sash lines. They share the same glass and energy performance. One can upgrade the Aspect with the Duo-Tech locks, balances, and extruded screen to put it on par with the Endure....

Re: Gap between beading & glass?
Vinylmax isn't distributed to my area over on the east coast. The problem seems to be the bottom glazing bead not seated correctly. I don't like those gaps in the corners and whatever company sold and installed the windows should fix for sure. It's like a super easy fix to tweak them and get them ti...

Re: Sunrise V Model vs Simonton 5500 vs Wincore 7700
The Sunrise would be my choice, however Sunrise is taking forever to have their products manufactured. The Simonton dealer is a long time respected colleague of many of us on this forum. He may offer some other options, not sure brand wise? Wincore are horrible. Contractors like them because they're...
