Re: Condensation inside Andersen Window

The supremely low temps coupled with higher humidity levels could create that issue. If the windows are over 20 years old, you are probably well suited to not invest any additional money and start looking at replacements. Have you tried Window4U? Thanks for the reply. I was fearing that was going t...

Condensation inside Andersen Window

Greetings All! Been a while since I've been on here, but I've got a question for y'all. I've got a large window config made up of 3 tall windows (casement-picture-casement) and a picture window spanning across the 3 above. A few years ago 3 of the four windows had the lost gas issue that caused the ...

Re: alside and climateguard and soft-lite, oh my

Agreed.

I looked at all of those and the Imperial is the best out of the bunch by a long shot.

Re: Alside Vs Advanced

Advanced is a Chicago based window company along with ClimateGuard. I looked at both along with Alside. From the 7 windows companies I looked at, the above 3 were the worst in performance and reviews for craftsmanship and customer service\warranty. If you can spend a little more, I would look at eit...

Re: Okna 700 series Casement windows vs. 40 - 50 mph winds

I'd echo anthony's comments... its nice to occasionally hear a success story, rather than all of the posts regretting the purchase of "cheapo" products, that wish they would have done more research the first time... Congrats on an excellent choice (on both accounts). :D I have to give pro...

Okna 700 series Casement windows vs. 40 - 50 mph winds

Greetings All! Chicago has been plagued with rain and high speed winds for the past couple of days (Typical late fall weather in The Chi). Last year, when this weather was around, I had old, rotted Kolbe\Kolbe casements in my front room with a light weight curtain covering them. The windows were so ...

Re: Repair or replace?

I think all that is needed is the bottom sash for both, a lock on one, and jamb liners on another. Otherwise, he said everything else was fine. If I went with OKNA replacements, I would be using Dave (Windows4U) and his approach is removing the old window and inspecting the existing frame to see if ...

Re: Repair or replace?

I want to eventually replace the older Andersens (installed in 1991) with Okna, but I have other projects that need to be done, like replacing my galvanized plumbing with copper. If the repairs are considerably less than new windows, I will probably repair them.

Re: Repair or replace?

Good to know. I had a mish\mash of windows in this house. I just replaced 7 rotted out Kolbe\Kolbe casements with Okna casements. But I'll probably go with your advice depending on what the repair costs are.

Cheers,

Lew

Re: Repair or replace?

Thanks for the reply.

Are the 400 series any good? I've read mixed reviews and it seems Andersens are somewhat regarded as sub par windows no matter what the level. :?

Repair or replace?

Greetings All! I have a dilemma. I moved into my house 2.5 years ago. During this time, there were two window air conditioners that were permanently installed (wood boards screwed into the window, caulked, etc) and were in the windows for almost 10 years (previous owners installed them). Due to wate...

Re: Patio Door questions

Thanks for the replies. She went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Soft-Lite doors before I could call her back.

Much appreciated!
