tell me what you think the all-in cost of 33 DH windows, 3 oriels, 1 picture window and 2 semi-circular windows from the Simonton 5500 line (with low-E and argon gas) should be.

Re: Simonton Windows for Southeastern Pennsylvania

This guy just does windows and he's been in the business for over 20 years so classifying him as a day laborer would be ridiculously unfair. I do believe I'm a fairly savvy businessman. I've gotten additional quotes and he's pretty close to others that I have received. The biggest issue I'm having i...

Re: Simonton Windows for Southeastern Pennsylvania

What type of load to the cost of the window would you expect for a quality install?

Does anyone have any experience with the Ideal Ultra Weld?

Re: Simonton 5500 - Is this a good price?

I was quoted $275 for the Simonton 5500 with Low-E and argon gas, but I believe it is single strength.

Re: Simonton Windows for Southeastern Pennsylvania

Apparently I misunderstood. The cost of the Simonton 5050 window itself is $245. The cost of the window with capping and all labor is $325. The all-in cost for the Simonton 5500 is $352. This compares to a cost of $277 for the Premium Energy Weld from Ideal.

How do these prices sound to you?

Re: Simonton Windows for Southeastern Pennsylvania

The guy is a wholesaler and one of the top 3 dealers in the region so he's able to get the windows at a much lower price than his competitors.

Re: Simonton Windows for Southeastern Pennsylvania

It includes the windows, installation, capping and removal of old windows. We're not talking the high-end windows, though......

Re: Simonton Windows for Southeastern Pennsylvania

This has all been extremely helpful! A couple of follow-up questions: * Are there any significant differences between the Prism and Reflections lines? * Does adding grills to the inside of a window noticeably reduce the energy efficiency of a window? Enough to influence a decision not to add grills?

Re: Simonton Windows for Southeastern Pennsylvania

Thank you for your response. Is there a significant difference in quality between the Simonton 5500 and the low end of the Prism series (Bronze)? Significant enough to warrant any extra cost?

Simonton Windows for Southeastern Pennsylvania

I'm looking to replace 33 double-hung windows and was given a quote for the Simonton 5050 of $245/window. The windows would be double pain with low-E & argon gas. We just moved into this house last year and plan on being here for about 25 years. The same wholesaler originally wanted to sell me t...
