Re: Semco Patio French Door

if you prefer a wood interior, Marvin is certainly the way to . if you want an all fiberglass, Marvin Infinity is the way to go. Pella offers an all fiberglass but its completet junk in my opinion and also not attractive at all.

Re: Window install concern

I always foam the gap between the original sill and new sill. As for sagging, usually happens at the meeting rails and is usually an issue with lower end windows.

Re: Window install concern

foam is used prior to trim being re installed. i would not recommend drilling any holes especially into the window itelf. you would immediately void any warranty. keep in mind, if the window was measured tightly with a very small gap, foam would not work anyway as it would not stay in the gap. thats...

Re: Replacing casement windows

yes, plygem is a lower grade. i would also look at some other high end brands such as okna/hiMark - gorell, sunrise. also, there is a pro who frequents this board who not only is a consumate professional, but also a good guy. his user name is " buddy 11 " . do a board search and click the contact but...

Re: Final Window Decisions

the okna will have the best performance numbers of the 3 and also the best designed/ engineered. the Okna 500 is a solid extrusion with a DP rating of 50 without reinfrcement. that shows just how solid this window is. the quality of yhe pvc used in the 500 is a very high grade so warping is a non is...

Re: is low-e & foam filled really worth the extra cost in a pola

lowE -argon is a must.
foam filling is something i tend to endorse. it will add some r-value to the frame . however, i also like the added rigidity rendered by foam.

Re: Sunrise vs Pella Impervia

windows on washington is spot on regarding pella; its a low quality offering regardless of the fact that its fiberglass. the sunrise offering is much better in every way. contrary to what some may say, a high quality vinyl is just as good as fiberglass but with the added benefit of having better per...

Re: Never Bought WIndows... Need HELP ASAP....

Todd Both the Soft Lite Elements and Imperial LS are totally different extrusions than the Pro series. the walls are thicker and its an overall better design; also the sill design is more solid than the Pro. not to mention the Pro uses metal reinforcement whereas both the imperial and elements use k...

Re: Sunrise Verde or Restoration?

as HomeSealed alluded to, get the reinforcement. sunrse uses a " non conductive" reinforcement bar which i really like. some manufacturers use metal which conducts cold.

Re: worried about install

i always make sure that my contract states we will replace/repair a certain number of rotted sills ; any additional will be x amount. if you did not have that stated in the contract, it may not be included. i would obviously bring it to the installers attention. it may simply be a case where they au...
