Re: Okna 500 vs 600 (or 800)

It will depend more on the glass package than the brand.
I’d choose a Good brand and reputable company(800 is excellent choice) then choose the appropriate glass package

Re: Okna 500 vs 600 (or 800)

Hello, we are looking to put soundproof (noise reduction windows) and were recommended OKNA 800 by one of the local dealers. Are Okna 800 actually reduce noise significantly or that dealer just wanted to sell it to us? Thank you

Re: Hoppers, what’s recommended?

I've been using the OKNA 500 series hoppers for the last few years and I seem to like them compared to the Sunrise and Soft-Lite versions. ...

Re: Simonton Contractor Series

I tried several times to call Simonton to ask the question, but when I had a chance to call, so did 500 other people. I finally got through, and was told that the HD Contractor and non-HD ProFinish Contractor are exactly the same. With a 15% sale until 10/9, plus a 10% military ...

Re: OKNA 500 vs 800 replacement windows

I agree with the others, the 800 is superior. That price is on the low end of what you may find these days for a window that performs on that level, so it makes it an easy choice for me in this case... There are companies installing that window for 2x's that price every day, I'd jump on that deal if...

If it was my own house I would use the 800DX.

Re: OKNA 500 vs 800 replacement windows

I agree and prefer the 800. A happy medium without scarificing quality would be to ask for the 600 Eco Pro.

Re: OKNA 500 vs 800 replacement windows

In my opinion, yes. The 800 looks nicer with the handle and there is a good bit more material it in. It is super strong and I always want to defer to the stronger product in that comparison.

OKNA 500 vs 800 replacement windows

I’ve been following these forums which have led me to Okna windows. I’m replacing 35 windows, 4 are casement, 2 pictures, and 29 double hung. Seems like both the 500 and 800 series are great windows with not too much of a difference at least from an efficiency ...

Re: Insulated Glass Units - Dallas

... rest are single hung. $13,200. Told me that their house brand window, Traditions, is NT, and is about 10% more. Cardinal IG units installed is ~$4,500 so unless that price came down a lot, I can't see doing windows. Any thoughts or comments are welcome.

Re: structural support for picture window.

The 500 vs 700 thing may just be a misinformed sales guy.

On the mulls, you could pry off one of the mull caps to verify that there is no stud in there, but again, it doesn't look like it. Typically the mull would be a bit wider if that were the case.

Re: structural support for picture window.

The 500 pw was part of the quote, I can ask for a revision with a 700 pw. I've attached an interior pic for your review. So far, I'm glad to hear that the frames can be mulled without additional support.

Re: structural support for picture window.

A couple of confusing things here: 1) If your flanking units are Okna 700 casements, the center PW should be in the 700 frame as well. No reason to use a 500 frame, it would look weird with the different exterior profile. 2) Without seeing this ...

... case, but again, the pro isnt terrible, just a step down from the others. The pricing gives additional cause for concern though. At a little over $500 per window installed, even a company like Zen, which could be a guy that sold his Einstein Bagels franchise to open a window company out of a broom ...
