Are those Simontons installed? Not a fan of the pocket sill but that seems like a good price.


If you want to stay in the $3600 range, I would stick with the Simontons. If you want to go higher, either of the Gorell's or the Simonton 9800 (Should be the equivalent to the 5500).

Cheap is up to you. Some windows may not do much better than what you have. If you don't open them and want relative cheap, get a price on double paned glass (picture style) and put it in, seal it. To exand of WOW, the AC 8500 is a Silver Line 8500. They are Ok, but not a great window, they are know to have "crooked" sashes depending on the width of the window.

Also are these prices "out the door"? No install?

Gorell and now Simonton (though even more expensive than Gorell), exteriors can come painted.

Check out both their sites and you can fill out a request to get in touch with a local installer, or call one of the supply houses and ask for for references.

If looking for a thinner profile frame, consider the Gorell 5100. If available in your area.

Backer Rod is typically used to fill gaps for Caulk not insulate.

Foam is good for air/water barriers and insulation and batton is good for insulating in a cavity.
