We just picked up a case of foam from the Quad people, OSI. They just jumped into the mix. A local supply house had a sample can being used as a paper weight so I asked the manager if I could have it. Seems like pretty good stuff and I couldn't really tell the difference from Dow or Hilti. I was goi...

You should get some more estimates. This is a very low-grade product with a ton of problems. Most of the dealers that deal with Accu-Weld are simply bottom feeders that sell on price and turning a quick profit. They are not concerned about how this window holds up long term or if it even works corre...

We decided not to go with the Elements line as Soft-Lites requirements would have had us drop a few of other products. However, we have had the new "Imperial LS" which is basically the same window except for the tilting mechanism. The Elements did score a little better in the testing, but ...

WOW! I didn't know Castle did windows for well under $400 a pop. I wonder how much Castle pays for that window. Better yet, how much are the subs making? In my area Home Depot never has windows for under $550.00 a window.

Okay, here is the 411 on Castle. There are simply huge in the Northern East Coast. For many years they had a mechanical cornered window from Napco with side expanders. They privatize a label on a window with their name on the locks so one can't compare apples to apples, kind of like what the mattres...

I think in your case Sunrise with the Intercept should be fine. I prefer the Super Spacer, but Sunrise will stand behind any type of potential warranty issue pertaining to seal failure. Most of the Intercept problems that I'm seeing are mainly with window manufacturers that have the Intercept lines ...

We have a large dealer down here in Delaware that utilizes the Seaway products as their drop window, their upper end stuff comes from OKNA in the form of a composite window with a Duraseal spacer. I don't know much about Seaway, my best guess is that it's another low to mid-grade vinyl window with P...

My take on the uneven sight lines with Sunrise is that the extra glass on the bottom sash is a positive trade off given that most folks will have some type of window treatment that partially obscures the top sash. As far as the frame being a little less stable due to the smaller extrusion, well it's...

With Ideal, I'd look to their 4500 series that they had labeled under the Vinyl Tech name. We used some last year to match up a job on an apartment building and everything seems to be pretty good so far. This would be a decent grade contractor window as opposed to the stuff at most box stores and lu...

Both of those windows come from companies that have been around for quite a while. BF Rich is real close to my home, but I'm sorry I don't know all that much about their window except that they still use Swiggle spacing. We once sold the Great Lakes products but we switched them out back in 05, thus...

Drake I'm personally glad that you love your dollar store windows. Why don't you ask me how many hours I spent yesterday re-glazing windows that another window company sold to a homeowner, that is now seeking help from any window dealer that will service his windows that are only 4 years old? The co...

Tom, Our one #405 customer had been concerned about how much darker the house would be with two panes of glass have the low-e coatings on them. She was worried about losing too much light. Her home is right off of 76 close to Villinova University. I mention this only because I didn't see the need fo...

I pass by the Ideal Window Outlet everyday on my way to my store. Their main target in my area seems to be contractors. I've had several of them that once purchased their products approach me about stepping up to something nicer. The product that you are looking at from Ideal is low to mid-end at be...
