Re: Looking for replacement windows - need help!
You should be able to find a pretty decent window in that price range. Tell your friends to be carefull what they ask for. The cheapos sold through Orange and Blue are priced low for a reason. Most manufacturers know what their product is worth. Orange and Blue's criteria for window manufacturers is...

Re: Looking for replacement windows - need help!
Sounds as if you have convinced yourself this is the best route for you to go and it probably is. I would ask him how long he's been selling this window and what he sold before. I'd also ask for the CPD# What I don't like about the Ultra-Maxx is that 1.)the frame is very large and bulky, 2.) It uses...

Re: Looking for replacement windows - need help!
I think it's a rebranded Ultra-Maxx. Plenty of reviews on it. Sometimes the name is changed on a window to hide it's true quality. That can be a lot cheaper than actually redesigning a window or fixing design defects.

Re: Need help; plygem, showcase, NT or Gorell
I would not give much credence to a window with foam in the frames or sashes. I would also rather have an installer use low expanding spray foam than I would have him use a foam wrap. neither should be a deal breaker.

Re: Window World or Clear Choice Windows
I'd also add that people who buy low end products are far less likely to complain about them than purchasers of higher end products. If you buy a $25 table from WalMart, are you really going to complain when it falls apart in 3 years? If you buy a round trip airline ticket to Hawaii for $199, are yo...

Re: Window Install Recommendations
The Starmark is made by Okna. Go to Okna's website and use the dealer locator feature. Then you can check Angies List and the BBB before contacting the dealers. I can tell you Okna only allows a certain number of dealers in a geographic area.

Re: Window Install Recommendations
What window brand and model did Windows Plus show you. It's been so long I can't remember what they sell.
Edit: OK they sell Vytex and Gorell. Which one did they give you a quote for?

Re: Windows to Choose
Simonton offers a lifetime warranty that covers the windows and labor from the factory. I think you will like the Simonton Window. They also have a very good reputation for quality products and first rate warranty and customer service.

Re: Windows to Choose
If you like the Simonton's, I would recommend using low solar gain glass on all windows in SoCal. The ETC Super 366 would be my choice because it comes with Super Spacer. Second choice would be ETC Starter 366 with Supercept.

Re: What is a HD 6500 window?
Simonton offers different glass packages for different applications. Let's start with where you live. So they do have to specify on the contract what kind of 6500 it is, thanks They should. However, that doesn't mean that's the best glass for your house. That depends on where you live and which dir...

Re: What is a HD 6500 window?
Some of the windows the Pros on here agree are good buys are Sunrise, Softlite, Okna and Gorell. Don't misunderstand, Simonton makes a very nice window. I just wouldn't recommend buying it from Orange when you can probably get a better price and a better install from a local dealer. Local companies ...

Re: Sunrise Windows vs Milgard
I have no idea where you read to avoid the Sunrise Essentials. The Essentials is Sunrise's window for a more budget conscious consumer. While not their top of the line window, it's a great value. IMO Sunrise is a better value than Milgard. It's not that Milgard doesn't make a decent window. it's jus...
