Re: Simonton Windows for Southeastern Pennsylvania
352 is absolutely ridiculous and he will be losing money . He sounds like day laborer who doesn't know how to price a job and that in itself is a red flag. The fact that you are more concerned with the lowest price leads me to believe you will be back on this forum asking what went wrong with your l...

Re: Okna Windows
That's actually very good pricing for the Okna window. We are a bit higher than that but we are in a different area. As far as someone quoting 350 per window, no one is installing that particular window that cheaply. That quote you saw was found not to include capping, lowE/ argon, debris removal, o...

The vytex fortis is a good window but you just hit a home run with "windows on Washington." Great window, great installs, and a great company...

Re: Big Bow window replacement...need advice
There are much better brands. Pricing seems within the norm unless there are some complex install issues none of the salesman saw and therefore priced too low. Bay/ bow windows are inherently expensive and the install requires expertise or else you will gave problems in the future. DO NOT base your ...

Re: Air Leakage
Removing the casing is not included during a " basic install" whether interior or exterior...needs to be stated in contract. There are adjusters that can tighten, align the windows. Looks like the 400 series were installed?

Re: Installing in rain
Tipping is never expected but when someone does, it's greatly appreciated ..if I find out someone has tipped my crew, I always call the homeowner and thank them. The installers ( good ones), are the unsung hero's is this business. As for installing in rain, we do unless it's a heavy down pour and th...

Re: In NJ, Needs opinions on Vinyl Replacement, Gorrel, Polaris?
Polaris Ultra windows have a 20 year warranty on exterior paint. That's one of the best warranties I've seen for exterior color..
On a side note, United is not considered high quality and is not in the same league as Polaris or Okna.

Re: In NJ, Needs opinions on Vinyl Replacement, Gorrel, Polaris?
Polaris make a good window but you need to look at the Polaris ultra series; a very solid window. I would avoid universal direct.

Re: New Windows
Most pro's would agree that Pella's fiberglass window is poorly designed and not recommended. If you want fiberglass, look at Marvin infinity.

Re: Good Price? Champion vs Sunrise
Window world use Alside which are not in the same league as sunrise. I think your pricing is good for the sunrise. It's a well designed window and they use a truly welded sloped sill and not a snap in sloped or pocket like champion or Alside( window world).

Re: Comparing Windows: Simonton and Gorell
Gorell is a better window especially the 5300..although the 5100 with fiberglass reinforcement and a foam filled frame is one heck of a window as well.

Re: Gorell, Viwinco or Vista DH Vinyl Rep. Windows
Plygem does Not use a stainless spacer. They use standard intercept which is a tin plated alloy. Block and tackle is an expensive balance system and beats out all others in " durability testing" . However, a constant force is fine as well..no one is going to open and close their windows a ...

Re: New Pella 350 series Vinyl Windows - any good ?
The new Pella 350 is average, nothing special at all. Ask them about the air leakage rate and see how they dodge the question. Ask about the thickness of the outer walls and see how they also dodge that question. As the other guy said, you should of looked at a premium window such as Okna, gorell, S...
