Re: Vytex Fortis, Provia Endure or Simonton Reflections?

Thanks Ricknez. I was mistaken for the similarities of the Fortis then to the Grand View. I like the ProVia more than Grand View for sure, but I'm not qualified to comment on the Fortis. My apologies.

Re: Vytex Fortis, Provia Endure or Simonton Reflections?

I'm not 100% sure of the install aspect of the Fortis as I signed up with Vytex many years ago but never actually needed to place an order with them for no real reason. Isn't t that model real similar to the most common model that Window Nation installs? I've been in homes recently looking at some o...

Re: Vytex Fortis, Provia Endure or Simonton Reflections?

Todd, are you still in the field installing? No one wearing a toolbelt has been harder on ProVia then me regarding QC and some of the engineering aspects of their products as me. With that being said, I know the other products mentioned and as finished project regarding energy performance. The curre...

Re: Vytex Fortis, Provia Endure or Simonton Reflections?

ProVia by a landslide. I wouldn't shy away from the Aspect for the Endure either. We do both series and Aspect has slimmer sash lines. They share the same glass and energy performance. One can upgrade the Aspect with the Duo-Tech locks, balances, and extruded screen to put it on par with the Endure....

Re: Gap between beading & glass?

Vinylmax isn't distributed to my area over on the east coast. The problem seems to be the bottom glazing bead not seated correctly. I don't like those gaps in the corners and whatever company sold and installed the windows should fix for sure. It's like a super easy fix to tweak them and get them ti...

Re: Sunrise V Model vs Simonton 5500 vs Wincore 7700

The Sunrise would be my choice, however Sunrise is taking forever to have their products manufactured. The Simonton dealer is a long time respected colleague of many of us on this forum. He may offer some other options, not sure brand wise? Wincore are horrible. Contractors like them because they're...

Re: Can any contractor install Okna

Those Harvey and Paradigm models would be fine of most folks. Both are strong companies with good reputations. OKNA will have a clear edge in the engineering, energy performance, and appearance of the product. I've installed all of the products that you have mentioned. OKNA, which offers new constru...

Gaining access to the wall cavity to get the insulation right was the missing piece of the puzzle. I'm aboard with you.

Re: New Windows Central Michigan

Just so you know Sunrise is like 24 or more weeks out on manufacturing windows right now. If you can't find an OKNA dealer in your area there are other brands that will service you well in a flanged new construction. ProVia Endure and Aspect, top of the line Seaway, Kessington, Vytex, HomeGuard, and...

Re: New Windows Central Michigan

I don't care for Homasote sheathing which is what you currently have. I have it too on my house. If there is nothing really wrong with it we just typically will go over with foam board and taped seams (foil faced poly iso) or hand nail modern WRB as one can't staple to that stuff. I'm guessing you w...

Re: Okna 500 dx estimate

The only time we don't tend to perform aluminum trim coil mitering of the head cap is on trim board capping in which the top board face width really exceed the width of the leg trim boards like in historic homes. We have older cedar clap board sided homes in my area with lot's of butt joints to all ...

Re: ProVia paint match - snow mist

ProVia utilizes a local paint shop/manufacturer outside of the big well know outfits close their manufacturing facility in Ohio. You may be able to cross reference a match with SW, BM, Lowes or Depot? But none of them make paint for ProVia. I was out there a few months ago and this was told to the g...
