I agree with flygirl and AWG. I'm partial to the Milgard, and the fact that they are built in Denver should weigh heavily on the decision. Closer manufacturing means better service and quicker response times. Good luck on your purchase.

Look for the Gold AAMA label on the window to find the manufacturer (if available) and call for warranty work.

I agree with Window4u. I just completed the AAMA training, and it was a great way to compliment what I already knew about installations. Apprenticing to a vet. would be a good way to start though, so you get the basics down first. Hopefully the vet. you can pair with has taken the AAMA classes alrea...

Yes it does, but I try hard to be as non-biased as possible. Doesn't always pan out, but I still try to be professional, but back to the topic at hand, read the two warranties (off of the websites) side by side, and make the decision for yourself.

The Simonton window is a good window, and so is the Milgard. To compare the two, Simonton has won the Builders Magazine "Top Vinyl Window" award one time, while Milgard has won the same award 6 times. That may help with your decision, and Milgard always backs up the warranty, (it happens t...

I would also take the warranty (how many exclusions it has) and how long the company has been in business into account. Those two factors can really show the pride a company takes in their window and construction. In my opinion, if you build a bad window, you won't be around that long.

My personal and professional opinion would always be to go with white. Thre reason is that white goes with EVERYTHING and you can paint the house any color you want in the future without clashing. While beige and tan will also work, they do have a few colors that look strange when side by side. Also...

Hate to agree with the rest, but it is the nature of the beast. The main reason they do it is because IT WORKS. When people stop falling for it, the practice will stop, but that will never happen. Most buying decisions are made with emotion and not logic, and unless human nature changes, "sales...

I agree with Window4u. If you HAVE to have brown exterior, don't go with any vinyl windows that offer that. They do not perform well over time in the sun, hence the fact that many manufacturers who used to build them no longer do (service nightmares). Fiberglass will be the way to go, but it will de...

If you are looking for an almond exterior window with white interior (or paintable interior) and Comfort line is not what you expect, look into the Milgard lines of fiberglass. They come in 5 dif exterior colors with white interiors that are also paintable. Good luck and keep checking the posts befo...

certainteed vs. milgard

lbl is not a bad window, but the testing done on it does not accuratley show wind and air filtration. The weep system is very big, and allows air to flow directly into the house. Milgard has the better warranty of the three and if you want to be in the house for any period of time (over 5 years) go ...
