low-grade window. There are a lot of products that are worse out there. If you go with this window please get a super installation.

I've seen a lot of the old school installers screw up from the head and then shim the sides. They fill in the bottom and sides with concrete. This may be a solution for a do-it-yourselfer if the basement is unfinished.

WW has in the past carried the following: SuperSeal, OKNA, Accu-Weld and possibly, Silverline. The folks in the Tri-State area actually have another outfit with the initials "WW." And I'm still not referring to Window World. I was right beside one of their trucks the other day and was real...

Empire Today has used Simonton in the past, perhaps they still. This may be why the two windows seemed similar.

Good guess there Skydawggy. But, this time it's not old Window World. If you grab this month's issue of QR and look at the top 10 or 20 on their list, you will see who's initials we are making reference to. In my book they are just as bad. I've used some installers once who had worked for them in th...

I think that I've heard of that window advertised in our market. The initials of this company wouldn't be WW, would it?

Dave, I agree with you 100%. I've insulated those pockets and think I have a nice little system down to a science for what I'm able to do with fiberglass insulation, my Fein Multi-Master, broken fishing polls, and Duct or Tyvek tape. I'm not going to invest in a pellet pour in type of system. I've a...

To get the low expansion foam into the entire jamb cavity around the replacement would be ideal. However, when performing installs from the outside that have had the wood stops chiselled off, we usually don't get a perfect gap around the new window. You have factors such as; how the stops break, shi...

The external foam wrapping from Lamatek that most of the window companies use in optional and available on all of the Sunrise products. Some dealers will work out a deal with a window manufacturer so that an option like this is automatic on all orders. Perhaps the Restorations dealer has is standard...

Yup, I knew there were a few more little differences. They shouldn't really improve any performance numbers to speak of. Restorations for the price of Vanguard would be my choice if the price and quality of install are equal.

Both are the premium windows from Sunrise with the Restorations being held for the loyal and largest dealers. Vanguard was created for all of the Plygem dealers that once delt with Great Lakes that didn't have the Uniframe model as it was Great Lakes top of the line. Both of the window models from S...

Sorry, I can't tell you much about the Window Factory. Never heard of them. My gut instinct with a name like that tends to make one think that they are some kind of window discounter, which leads me to having doubts about the manufacturers that they purchase from. Possibly low end? I could be wrong....

How about this. Ask the Bayshore/Uniframe guy what spacer they use and do they glaze in house or let the pros do it and send out for their glass? Do they edge delete the low-e? I believe all of those three windows are glazed with Intercept, so I would consider them all contractor's grade windows. Gr...

I know some installers from Lowes that think they are pretty much junk. Keep in mind that Pella just puts their name on the label of that window after acquiring the vinyl manufacturer in a corporate move.
