Re: General opinion of Milgard Tuscany?
Skydawggy: What do you like better about the Simonton 9800 vs. the Milgard Tuscany? Is it vastly superior? I just got a quote for the 9800's that is about $1300 more than Tuscany - not that much more if it is better. Simonton doesn't seem to have much of a presence here in Colorado but I'm going to ...

Re: Help selecting replacement windows
I believe Milgard is sold at Home Depot buy I don't think the Tuscany is on display. You could ask if they could order that model. Alternatively, I think 84 lumber is a dealer. I'm having mine professionally installed so I'm using an installing dealer I found on milgard.com. You can go there, put in...

Re: Help selecting replacement windows
Hi: I'm also in CO and have looked at many of the windows you mentioned. Two that you didn't mention are Marvin all-ultrex and Milgard Tuscany. The Marvin is a fiberglass window that I really like but have pretty much decided not to go with them because they don't come in half rounds. Gravina's offe...

Schuco windows - question for Windows on Washington
Hi: Windows on Washington, you have been very helpful to me with your information regarding Great Lakes windows and Milgard. I finally heard from a Schuco dealer here in Colorado. Of course, they say they are superior to Milgard and called Migard a "builder grade window". They insist on co...

Re: Great Lakes Bayshore window - any good?
Windows on Washington: Update. I finally met with the Simonton dealer. He carries the 5300 and 5500 and the price was 3k-5k higher than my Milgard quote. He didn't even bring a sample but from what I've learned here, it doesn't seem it is worth the extra expense over the Milgard Tuscany/Monticedo. T...

Re: Great Lakes Bayshore window - any good?
Thanks! I talked to the Milgard dealer and am told the Monticedo is identical to the Tuscany except it has the integral nailing fins! He said that they are not usually used in remodeling but when he heard I want the exterior trim torn off, he was all for giving me the "full meal deal" inst...

Re: Why is it all about double hungs?
In Colorado, sliders are very popular. I am considering a few casements in my window order. One nice thing in my opinion is that the screen is on the inside so it is not always exposed to dust/debris and should stay cleaner

Re: Great Lakes Bayshore window - any good?
Thanks so much Windows on Washington. I had sort of reached the same conclusion. I really liked the exterior appearance of the Great Lakes Bayshore (it is a bit dressier) but as far as other features, I don't think it is worth the extra expense. The Great Lakes dealer tells me their vinyl is much th...

Great Lakes Bayshore window - any good?
Hi all: In my continuing search for my window choice, I think I have narrowed down the choice to the Milgard Tuscany and Great Lakes Bayshore. Has anyone heard of Great Lakes windows? One thing I noticed about the Great Lakes is that it does not come with a nail fin BUT they do sell accessory nail f...

Re: General opinion of Milgard Tuscany?
Thanks. Do you know of any site with some close-up photos of the Simonton windows? I was looking at the Simonton site and couldn't really find a whole of information. I dropped them a line asking for some referrals for installers/showrooms. So far I have not been terribly impressed with the "fi...

Thanks Skydawggy.
Am I correct that in general Simonton has a VERY good reputation on this board? I will check their site and see about dealers.

Re: General opinion of Milgard Tuscany?
Can anyone else provide some other high midgrade to upper end vinyl window manufacturers I should check out? All I have found locally to actually see is Milgard and Marvin so a few recommendations would be helpful to see if a local distribution center could order others. Location is Colorado. Thanks

Re: General opinion of Milgard Tuscany?
Thanks. I am unable to locate installation dealers for the others you recommended. I am also not able to locate Alside or Schucho. I am in Colorado. I liked Marvin Ultrex (fiberglass) but they are not availabe in the half rounds. The Milgard sample window I saw looked OK but was not overly impressed...

General opinion of Milgard Tuscany?
Hi:
Where does the Milgard Tuscany window stand in terms of reputation and quality? I'm looking for a upper end vinyl replacement window.
Thanks
