I believe the SunClean glass needs to be activated in order for it to work correctly. This requires washing the glass with a vinegar and water solution once after the windows are installed. I was told this by a company rep who was pushing us to sell SunClean to our customers. We've sold it a few tim...

You shouldn't have to paint any of the three as all have maintenance free exteriors. Andersen and Pella are aluminum clad, Schuco is vinyl and assuming your contractor is cladding the exterior you'll be fine. To be safe ask for PVC coated aluminum cladding -- it will hold up better over time. Anders...

Its the windows, its the windows, its the windows. Aluminum is a conductor. Its great for keeping things cold...that's why beer cans are made out of it. It sucks as an insulator. With all due respect to Guy, even if your windows were packed with insulation all the way around, installed absolutely pe...

I'm in MN, so I know a little bit about the deep freeze. The crooks at Pacesetter came through here back in the 70's and put a lot of aluminum windows in people's homes that didn't know any better. I can say with 100% certainty that a vinyl window will make a difference. Drafts or not -- your house ...

You didn't mention what part of the country you lived in, but the reason you are getting the condenation and ice is that the aluminum windows in your home are conducting the cold from the outside to the inside of your home. The humidity in the house is condensing (and freezing) at the coldest point ...

While both W4U and JScott are correct about the higher cost of installation in the winter and the rising cost of vinyl -- the biggest reason you might be able to get a lower price now over last July is simply that December is the slowest sales month of the year for most home improvement companies. I...

Do any of the Schuco dealers know the difference in air infiltration rates between the normal slider and their tilt slider? I'd also like to hear from some Schuco guys who've been installing the in line sliders for more than a year. How have these windows performed for your customers in the winter?...
