Re: Replacing New Construction Windows

Your existing units do not have a drip cap nor J channel. If we were doing your project we would cut out as I described previously, add a drip cap and J channel. The J channel is typically site bent 3/8" hem, 1 to 1 1/2 face, 7/8 throat, 1 1/4 to 1 5/8 back leg. All corners are tabbed and bent ...

Re: Replacing New Construction Windows

Most of the time we are able to leave the drip cap in place.
Most often we cut only the bottom and then the two vertical legs, we then pry down the top ripping the fin out of the head. If the drip comes out or is damaged we retro fit a new one.

Re: Replacing New Construction Windows

That method done with great care and closed cell polyurethane foam will do well.
Each opening needs to be evaluated for the need of a drip cap.

Re: Okna 500 dx estimate

If we did that install you would lose 3/4" to 1" of the pocket depth.
The brackets will need to be remounted and the blinds will be proud a little bit towards the room side.

Re: Advice on quote for Himark 800DX in NEPA

I think it depends on your goal. And what you like the look of. Some models at Okna/HiMark are program windows that require a certain volume or commitment from the dealer. I’ll let some one else explain that one if you want more info. If the handle is your distress with the 800, then get it without ...

Re: Himark 1000 vs 800dx differences?

The 1000 ws a triple pane vinyl unit that used a 1 3/16 glass package, which is best for TP. The had trouble getting it off the ground and have pulled back on it. They got enough to take care of. We sell almost exclusively the 800Dx, my lead mechanics love it. It is a vinyl window that checks all th...

Re: Advice on quote for Himark 800DX in NEPA

We have done projects in the area. I am not sure I can meet your budget. I quesstimated your project at $29,532. This assumes the new price increase the first part of July. I don't like many of the games the dealer is playing nor the information errors. There is a 1000 series, it is not the 800dx En...

Re: Lowes v. Pella to install Pella windows? HELP US DECIDE!

Interesting that you come on here after this thread is 10+ years old and prattle. I operate in the Philly suburbs. Just a few years ago, the manager of a lowes contacted us and had us supply and install all the windows in his house. He did not trust his own install program. Also in my market Pella/G...

Re: Installer Recommendation in NYC Plus Other Questions

That price for the sliding glass door is cheap.

The DH I would suggest the 600dx or the 800 dx.
