If you want a nice shake look, consider the Certainteed products. It comes in three dif. profiles and is very thick, durable and nice looking. May be on the spendy side, since the installation takes a bit longer, but looks great when properly done. I forgot the name of the line, but if you ask for s...

Don't know a lot about WW, but they are new to my area. I have read on these boards some negative things, so it is nice to see good feedback to balance it out. The only really negative thing I have heard about (grapevine only , so take it for what it is worth) is a lawsuite involving WW and some &qu...

I agree 100%. Some sales people just don't see the logic of those statements and insist on using R values for windows when we all know R values for windows stinks... a wall being R 30 and a window being R 3?? Not that impressive. Stick to the industry standards and the consumer becomes more educated...

R-10 on a window?
There is a company here that boasts an R value of 10. How is that possible when that translates to a U-Value of .10? I understand that it is triple pane with a foam core frame, but even so, all data I've seen on similar products goes to (lowest) a .20 or there abouts. Maybe even a .18 is beleivable,...

Heya Steve, well, I'll try to be as non-biased as possible, but since the Milgard bid was lower and sound is a concern of yours, have you tried asking about Laminated glass? Laminated glass has great, affordable sound deadening qualities and also, ask the Milgard dealer about SuncoatMax low e. This ...

HERE HERE!! Three cheers for Tru-blu. I appreciate your wisdom and experience, and try my darndest to be a bit non-biast. I know (and many others on the forum) I do lean to Milgard, but I will NOT bash another window co. or person on this forum, or in my professional life, nobody wins there, and cus...

The VPI window is a nice window, with a good bit of fluff for more appeal. Unfortunatly, VPI's pitch to dealers is that they will brand the window so as to look like it is manufactured by the dealer. As far as I know, you can not buy and install the window yourself, unless you fall into a special (I'...

Read your guarantee/warranty carefully. Some warranties will be voided if any type of expanding foams are used. I suggest soft celled backer rod, or fiberglass insulation (piece by piece). These may take a bit longer to apply, but to do the job right will save you tons of time and money in the long ...

That sure is a strange height. Is that one unit, or is there a transom? Your options may be limited if that is the proper size, but have you considered fiberglass? All the looks of wood, and none of the drawbacks. It will cost more than vinyl, but will perform better. Make sure the installer is well...
