Re: Soft-Lite Elements vs. Great View (Vytex) vs. Okna 500

The Imperial LS just has a slightly thicker frame profile from edge of glass to edge of frame. It is about 3.75". The Okna is about just under 3".

The LS does have a little detailing on the inside that is nice but is partially responsible for this extra width.

Re: Gilkey vs Simonton (Homedepot) 6500 vs Soft-lite

I was impressed with OKNA 500 and I decided to go with that. Triple pane, Argon, foam-filled (deluxe pkg). Window4u was very helpful in my decision making.

Staining wood on Bow Windows

Just wondering what do you guys stain the windows with. I was told to stain them, but the contractor never really gave advice on what to use and how to do it.

I have Okna 500 Bow windows, they use Oak wood I believe. Not sure what to put on them, they are untouched as of yet. Thanks

Re: Okna vs. Perfect Fit by Ideal for NoVA home

I chose the 500 model. The extra aesthetic enhancements did not mean that much to me. The specs on the 500 were super. I felt for me the best value was the 500. I'll post a review after the job is complete.

Re: Installing with Foam

The installers said the replacement window the Okna 500 insulated comes with insulation already, so it makes no sense to use more foam or insulation.

Re: Soft-Lite Elements vs. Great View (Vytex) vs. Okna 500

I agree with you on most counts.

The 500 is usually priced well under the Elements window in most cases. The Elements vs. 800 is a more appropriate comparison as far as features and design goes.

Thanks for your contributions to the board.
