Re: Need a good window install in Cincinnati
Start with looking for what are routinely thought of as the quality vinyl and fiberglass brands in your region.
Soft-Lite, Sunrise, Okna, Polaris in vinyl.
Marvin, InLine, Fibertec in fiberglass.

Re: Window companies in the dallas, texas area?
Ultra Window out of Houston Texas knows the Texas market. I would see what he says.
Window World is generally not thought of as a premium product vendor. Perhaps the house you were in before got a good crew on that day. The installs can be very hit or miss.

Re: Okna DH800 install question
Sleeping off a hangover in the truck is not a mark of a professional to be sure. Pictures are not as bad as I would have done if I were nursing a hangover to be honest. If there are issues of fitment, level, reveals, etc., those should all be addressed by the installation company. Caulking isn't the...

Re: Okna DH800 install question
Why do you think the install was "lackluster" in this case. The installation methodology that you reference is a recognized application by the AAMA and their Installation Masters application. The fact that they used the OSI systems components and did spray foam is already an indication tha...

Re: Okna for sound abatement in South Jersey
https://www.replacement-windows.com/windowbb/viewtopic.php?t=10809 Okna does have a sound control glass option that is as good at the laminated glass and less expensive. It's been tested in their 600 series window and I think is available in that series as well as the 800 and EVO. Checking with a l...

Can't add much to what HomeSealed said already...but just thought I'd chime in so that you see his remarks are spot on with regards to some degree of consensus amongst pros in the industry.

Is that technology really done now? Last I had heard, it was still not readily available or proven to be dependable. If it is, it really would be the best route to go.

Yes and Yes. I like the 600 for the small offset in price.
And the 2nd installer talking about seal failures is predictable, but BS. The 600 definitely the more stout product here and worth the 20% premium in my estimation.

Re: Replacement windows for sound reduction
Okna does have STC data on their laminated glass as well as their offset glazing option. Ask your rep/company for the data and they should get it for you. While I like the laminated, the offset glass does have a slightly better STC rating (1 point). It is a bit cheaper than laminated as a comparativ...
