Certainteed Windows got bought by MI - MidWest to East Coast and Plygem - West Coast. I know Plygem is not going to use the Certainteed name anymore.

Silverline on the west coast is a totally redesigned window shipped out of Texas. Silverline I think realizes that their current lines would not do well in California. The new window is pretty good for the price point. They only have single hung, picture and xo sliding option available right now.

I don't think Simonton is in any trouble. I heard the same thing about Plygem but they are just reorganizing their lines.

Plygem Somerton II and Brynmar will be discountinued this summer as well as the Brynmar French Sliding Door. These were Certainteeds brand names.

In California Simonton makes the 7300 narrow frame and 7500 wide frame. Don't know if they offer the 7300 narrow frame outside of California. It could be named something else.

California Deluxe Windows does make their own windows. The windows are pretty good with all the bells and whistles. Looks like Costco members can go online and get an estimate for milgard windows. Price is not as good as you think because Costco is taking a 20% finders fee from the dealers. Costco members that shop will find better deals.

Ask for references. I would recommend getting 10 references from each company you get an estimate from. Call 3 to 5 to get a vibe about the company. If a company says they don't give out phone numbers move on. Any good company has plenty of people that will take a few minutes to talk about their win...

Certainteed Somerton I think is a better window than Milgard Tuscany. Request the double strength glass and SolorBan 70 glass from the dealer for Certainteed Somerton. Should be a very small charge if any.
