Re: Okna 500 Insul-Tec Deluxe vs Sunrise

... SGHC. If you look at some manufacturers double pane windows, there SHGC numbers are actually lower (read...worse in your application) than the Okna triple pane deluxe option.

Re: Okna 500 Insul-Tec Deluxe vs Sunrise

I'm realizing that we aren't really set up to take advantage of the winter passive heat gain as the room is at the far end of the house. Also, the difference in the SHGC of the windows we have been quoted aren't all that different . It really comes down to U-factor and quality of product (and of cou...

Re: Okna 500 Insul-Tec Deluxe vs Sunrise

I would mix the windows. Put something in the South facing that will allow for maximum SHGC (as long as the home is set up to take advantage of some passive solar (i.e. dark floors, furniture, thermal mass type items), and put triple glazed in the other locations if you want to.

Re: Okna 500 Insul-Tec Deluxe vs Sunrise

Thanks WOW. I will call Sunrise guy. Would you recommend a triple-pane window? (We are West of Boston & have cold winters but an almost south-facing wall where windows get lots of sun -- winter and summer.)

Re: Okna 500 Insul-Tec Deluxe vs Sunrise

Verify the product and that will have a potential impact on the decision criteria. If they are quoting you the "Essentials" line, the Okna is a better window. I think you should also have the Sunrise window re-quoted in a triple pane with comparable energy numbers to get a real apples ...

Re: Okna 500 Insul-Tec Deluxe vs Sunrise

Re: Okna 500 Insul-Tec Deluxe vs Sunrise

WOW, skydawgy, anthony, randy, etc. Any of you guys have an opinion? We are so on the fence we are just thinking Sunrise b/c it's a bit cheaper, but would love input. Also, anything specific an installer should be telling us they plan to do to make to sure the repalacement windows fit squarely in la...

Okna 500 Insul-Tec Deluxe vs Sunrise

... Anyhow, we've seen 4 windows but after reading lots here and elsewhere have thrown out the Alside and Harvey Slimline quotes and are deciding b/n Okna and Sunrise. Both guys seemed good to work with, stayed over an hour & left us with estimates before they left. They also are cell phone accessible ...

Re: Kitchen Window (casement/awning?) + Okna pricing in MA

1. 39" is a bit outside the max width on the Okna casement. You may get them to make it a bit wider if you ask. The twin casement ... bulkier and will cost you a bit of glass. 3. Price difference between the 500 and 800 series is usually around $50 depending on the dealer. The laminate ...
