Re: Slider or Dual Casement in front of Kitchen Sink?
Consider an awning window as well. It will give you a picture window-like view. Many of my customers go with this option above kitchen sinks.

Re: How to get a Schuco window repaired?
Schuco-USA still has a bunch of parts stashed away so they might still have some of that weatherstripping. I know they still have the guide blocks that guide the sashes in and out to different tracks. You can contact Carol over there if you need to get some parts for the sliders and see if they stil...

Re: How to get a Schuco window repaired?
Measure the exact visible glass area, then add an inch each way.( +1/2" per side ) Go to a local glass shop and order a 7/8" thick low-e glass unit that size and make a deal with the glass shop that you will bring the sash in for a few minutes when they get your glass unit in to replace th...

Re: Hayfield Casement Windows
In Illinois in my area, Richards Building Supply is where contractors go to buy Hayfield. Hayfield makes wood and vinyl casements. I may be too picky, but both are nothing I'd brag about from the inspections I did of the window displays at Richards. The casements only have two weatherstrip points, a...

Re: Norandex Extreme Window
They are an Atrium product. Even though they call the little snap-in piece a "sloped sill" , the Extreme window is just a pocket sill window which is a deal killer for me right from the start. I would definitely read this window's warranty carefully before purchase as it has product ...

Re: Alside Mezzo
From the literature I just looked at it looks like Alside has made a step up with the Mezzo when compared to their low end junk we usually are asked about. Several of the features in the window are features we sometimes see in better windows. BUT..... that doesn't mean a thing unless the window is e...

Re: Starmark
The Starmark is a great choice, especially if you need a wood look as they are stainable. They have a great option on triple pane too. The triple pane option with the argon package (XR11) is priced nicely and you can get a .17 U-Factor without having to buy the more expensive krypton gas option. Tha...

Re: Soft Lite Imperial LS locking mechanisms
Don't do the auto locks. I sell several brands that have them as options and I won't sell them. They are a service nightmare. They also affect the air infiltration numbers negatively.

Re: Heat Tolerance of Vinyl Windows
I worked for a LP Weatherseal dealer in the 70s and up to the mid 80s and I remember one of their top salesmen who told people that these were the same windows they were using in the space shuttle. With that in mind, ...they should be fine.

Re: window replacement in winter?
Makes perfect sense. I try (TRY) to keep it simple. I have had a few people argue with me over the years, but most people pick right up on the dew analogy. Once you explain it in those terms you can see the light bulb in their head come on. I get the most arguments when they start with...

Re: Replacements in Philly...help!!
Anthony definitely serves the Philly area. I would let him respond to your post to see what is up. Maybe your zip code didn't get added to his profile when he set it up.drlegg99 wrote:I used Anthony's get a quote button, but it said he doesn't service Philly. Any help?
