Re: Incomplete installation and withholding payment

Maybe in Mayberry people still conduct business based on handshakes, and nobody takes money down. I don't see that as a viable option for anything other than a very small operation where the owner handles EVERYTHING. For most companies, professionalism is a must, including contract terms and the acc...

If that is all that they are doing, you may as well do the install yourself. Beneath the bare minimum in my book.

Re: Okna 800 Window question

Starmark looks a little different, but the point is moot since the height restrictions are the same.

Re: Okna 500 vice Vytex Fortis

I've heard some questionable things about Vytex and warranty coverage. I'd at least search them out on BBB and sites like this. I agree with others that it sounds like some pricing inconsistencies.

Re: Please clear up a question about window frames/sashes

Actually the VT number could be reflective of any number of things from frame size, to grids, to low e spec, etc. The Vytex is not necessarily considered a "slim" unit in my opinion. My experience with the product has left something to be desired. I would not put it in the same category as...

Re: Andersen vs Paradigm

Can you identify what part of their warranty that Paradigm is not honoring? If they are offering all new windows at no charge, I do not see how they are not honoring their warranty. I understand that there is the possibility that damage was caused due to their alleged product failure, but that may o...

Re: New windows on a porch

Idk if dream house is even around anymore. They filed a BK a couple years ago: http://www.prlog.org/11649585-dream-house-windows-confirms-chapter-11.html That would probably turn me off even if they are still around. I like the Okna line myslef, but there are a handful of great manufacturers that of...

Re: Alside windows & window World

wwrich, Are you forgetting that low priced windows and cut-rate labor are available to any of us that would want to use it? I could buy the same windows under $100 and pay installers 1/2 of what I do currently and employ the same business model, however I take great pride in the finished product and...

Re: Alside windows & window World

The only jealousy that I see is coming from wwrich. Like windows4u said, every business model has a place in the market, and these web boards are an oasis in a desert of people that care only about price. The sand is endless my friend, there will always be people that will buy the cheapest windows t...

Re: alside "clip in sill" design

I've had mixed results with alside. Some issues here and there, but they always stand behind their products. You definitely lose some glass with the Sheffield and Ultramax though. I prefer the snap in sill because at least it is funneling most of the water out via before it reaches the frame. That a...

Re: Installing Basement Windows With a Fieldstone Foundation

I like setting it directly in block for the extra glass space, but the buck frame is not a bad idea with fieldstone. Could be a mess either way.
