What kind of window do I have
What kind of window do I have
The vinyl double hung windows on my house are 22 years old. One of my windows is hard to raise and lower. Videos on UTube explain removing the windows by lifting the sash foot out of the window shoe. My windows don't look like this. My sash doesn't have a foot that goes into a shoe allowing it to be removed from the window. My windows have what I would call a worm gear that runs up and down both sides of the window.

Re: What kind of window do I have
The windows in those pictures appear to be obsolete builder's grade vinyl with a tubular spiral balance. Those get harder and harder to allow the sashes to raise and lower over the years. We pros hate them. The balance shoes also fail and pivot bars on the sashes can be an issue too. You can send pictures to Blaine Hardware or Strybuck along with some basic dimensions to get replacement parts.
