Steel Lintels
Steel Lintels
On a pocket install in a brick home are you capping the steel lintels or leaving exposed? I have done both but leave weep holes when required on the top of the coil bend as to not trap water at the lintel.

Re: Steel Lintels
We never cap them. We replaced and entire building worth of windows where they did cap the lentils (another company) and the whole building leaked.
You are at least doing them right with weepers but we just prefer to not cap them at all.

We leave them alone.

+3. Don't cover them.
Re: Steel Lintels
Thanks for the input guys. I have always leaned toward not covering them and have even offered to wire brush and paint them with a coat of rustoleum for the customer. One of my guys just loves to cap them because of the looks...but leave weep holes for sure.
