VinylMax vs Polaris - NE Ohio

#1 Post by cdwebb0 »

I'm in Northeast Ohio and have an installer that sells both VinylMax and Polaris.

The prices are pretty comparable between the two which are VinylMax Franklin series and Polaris ThermalWeld+ series.

Is one better than the other? Is one a better long term manufacturer to buy with?

Yes. The Polaris, open and shut.

Being in NE OH, if you are looking for other great windows to compare, Softlite Elements, Okna, and Sunrise Restorations or Vanguard are probably also available in your area.... I would not include the VM window as a comparable to any of those.

Thank you both for the reply. I’ve been leaning toward the Polaris as well.

However, one last comparison. My installer that provided the Polaris quote just sent over another quote for Provia Endure.

Provia and Polaris are both manufactured relatively close by and are pretty common brands in the area. I was surprised when the Provia Endure quote came in a little cheaper than the Polaris ThermalWeld+.

Are you still leaning toward the Polaris in this comparison?

Yes. Still Polaris decisively IMO.
There are certainly worse windows than the Endure, but it's a "kit" window being assembled by a company that has only been doing windows for a few years. Provia makes great doors, but I have my reservations about the windows... Not the least of which is that they have no problem cutting out products that aren't their bread and better, as evidenced by the recent shut down of storm windows as an offering.

+1 to HomeSealed advice and commentary.
