Randy, they just caulked them in. I was told that they were measured too tight to insulate around the perimeter.

Installation Problems

I recently had vinyl windows installed and in very cold weather I have noticed that the caulk bead along the window seal condensates. Also the vinyl on the vertical side rail condensates from the bottom corner up about an inch. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

HoleInTheWall, I looked at alot of windows and for the money they seem to be a great window. I am having them installed in mid-November, I will let you know how it goes. The thing I liked the most was that the company has been around for a long time and they have about the best warranty that I could...

a2dox, I'm not sure what you were looking at on the NFRC site about the Sugarcreek u-values but they are comparable to the polaris and vista for double pane with low e and argon. My quess is that you were looking at the double pane without low e or argon. Anyway just thought I would throw it out the...

Did you look at Sugarcreek Integra Windows? They seem to be a good window and competively priced.

My only choice for the windows that I'm looking at is either the spiral balance or compund tension balance. It seems that the compound tension balance would be a better choice even though the installer likes the spiral balances from Caldwell.

The manufacturer of the spiral balance in question is Caldwell Manufacturing. They claim that their spiral balance is "laser welded aluminum" and will not rust. I still think the compound tension balance is a much better system.

spiral balance vs compound tension balance

I have a choice between spiral balances and compound tension balances. The installer said that he likes the spiral balances because he can make adjustments to them if necessary. I like the compound tension balance because it seems like a better system. Any help would be appreciated.

Sugarcreek Windows

I have received a quote for 18 Sugarcreek Integra series 200, double pane low e, windows at approx. $400 per window installed. The window seems like a decent quality window. Does anyone have any comments on the quality of this window? I am comparing it to a window made by AMI(a division of Alside) w...
