Guy just finished my windows!

And they look fantastic. We went with the full frame replacement and new trim and the finished product is exactly what we were hoping for. Our windows "pop" now in the house and are actually aesthetically appealing, along with the new energy efficiency of course. So I definitely need to gi...

Guy, I'm a little surprised as well after reading this forum. I did talk to them more in depth about the situation and they stated that they could use foam if I wanted. I can just tell them what I want to use. I guess I have to now decide if I feel comfortable in them using it if they normally don't...

Okay, just to be safe, I called and said I was going to cancel the order for right now and I would maybe still go with them after we discuss some more things. I like the people I've been working with, but I have to be sure about things if I'm going to spend this type of money. They brought up a few ...

Okay, I have a call in. However, let's say for instance that they don't normally use it, but they agree to because I will cancel the contract otherwise; do I really want them to experiment with it on my house for the first time?

Yeah, I just signed a contract with Renaissance Exteriors here for Simonton 9800's with the Super Sensor package. The sales rep said they didn't use foam and said that they worry about the expanding and contracting of it or something like that.

I will give them a call to discuss this.

Foam or no Foam on Installation

I have talked to various installers and some have said that they use expanding foam during installation and others have said that they don't and only use fiberglass insulation.

Is it really just installer preference or does one have a definite advantage over the other? Does it vary by window type?

Yeah, I'm talking about the Schuco in-line slider. Thanks for the reply. I, like everyone else, appreciate your honest feedback.

I've already checked the BBB. I'm also going to check references and look at at least one actual job to see the quality. Other than that, not sure what else I can do.

All of you are located in the Midwest so I was hoping you could give me advice on costs in the area. Is it too much to pay around $1,100 a hole for a Schuco slider; Triple pane with Krypton and around 110 ui. Assume that your installation is pretty standard, white all around and its not a full frame...

I was wondering about the "other" Schuco dealer in Minneapolis ;). The sales rep from Seal Guard didn't have the most flattering things to say about them, however. Basically he was trying to say that Seal Guard has been installing Schuco windows much longer and Renaissance was having troub...

Good window for Minneapolis area

I just started researching window replacements for my house in Eagan, MN and would like to get opinions on high quality windows or installers in the area. We have seven windows to replace: 2 - 62" x 43" 1 - 62" x 53" 3 - 62" x 36" 1 - ~ 36" x 24" All of these ...
